ORDINANCE NO. 3-2012
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE PARTIAL AMENDMENT AND SUPPLEMENTATION OF CHAPTER 22, “TRAFFIC AND PARKING,” IN THE "REVISED ORDINANCES OF THE BOROUGH OF MORRIS PLAINS, NEW JERSEY, 1972,” SECTION 22-6, “THROUGH STREETS,” TO DESIGNATE MALAPARDIS ROAD AS A THROUGH STREET, AND SECTION 22-7, “STOP INTERSECTIONS,” TO DESIGNATE FOREST DRIVE AT FOREST AVENUE AS A NEW STOP INTERSECTION.
WHEREAS, the Borough Council has received the report and recommendation of the Traffic Safety Committee of the Borough of Morris Plains concerning the designation of Malapardis Road as a through street and an additional stop intersection at Forest Drive at Forest Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the Borough Council is desirous of amending Chapter 22 consistent with the recommendations of the Traffic Safety Committee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Borough Council of the Borough of Morris Plains, they being the Governing Body thereof, as follows:
Section 22-6, “Through streets,” as set forth in Chapter 22 of the Revision is hereby amended, supplemented and revised with the addition of a new through street, which shall read, as follows:
Malapardis Road - between Littleton Road and the
boundary line between Morris Plains and
Section 22-7, “Stop intersections,” as set forth in Chapter 22 of the Revision is hereby amended, supplemented and revised with the addition of a new stop intersection for Forest Drive, which shall read, as follows:
Forest Drive and A stop sign shall be
Forest Avenue installed at the northeasterly
corner of Forest Drive where it
intersects Forest Avenue
Regulatory and warning signs shall be erected and maintained to effect the above designations.
All other provisions of the aforesaid Chapter 22, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised Ordinances shall be unaffected and are hereby continued.
All Ordinances and parts of Ordinances inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this Ordinance is, for any reason, held to be invalid by a Court of competent jurisdiction, such a decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this Ordinance.
This Ordinance shall take effect immediately after final passage and publication as provided by law. A certified copy of this ordinance shall be forwarded to the New Jersey Department of Transportation for approval of the through street designation.
