Recycling Announcement – No Plastic Bags – will be stickered and left
Hello Morris Plains Residents:
Plastic bags continue to be a huge source of contamination in the recycling stream in our curbside pickup.
In an effort to eliminate this contamination, the Municipal Utilities Authority, MUA, has created pink “No Plastic Bag” stickers. The MUA crew will be placing these on plastic bags they find at the curb. They will begin their tagging efforts in the coming weeks.
If a pink “No Plastic Bag” sticker is placed on the recyclables, the MUA crew will not return to pick it up until next collection day when the plastic bags have been removed.
Please be reminded that no plastic bags of any kind should be in the recycling container, curbside. As of January 2022 the MUA no longer accepts shredded paper in the recycling container, curbside. Therefore, there are no exceptions to the plastic bag rule.
