The Plant-A-Tree program is a way individuals, groups and businesses can have a tree planted in Morris Plains to memorialize loved ones, commemorate births, weddings, anniversaries, or other special events while helping to improve the environment. (Planting billions of trees across the world is one of the biggest and cheapest ways of taking CO2 out of the atmosphere.). The Borough of Morris Plains has established this special program to allow people to donate money toward planting a tree in the Borough. The donation to plant a tree and receiving a Plant-A-Tree certificate is a minimum of $200. The donation provides for the purchase and planting of 1 tree suitable for the planting site.
What do Contributors Receive?
Contributors receive an acknowledgement of their donation to the Plant-A-Tree Program as well as a certificate (suitable for framing) that recognizes the contribution to the Plant-A-Tree program and has a space where the honoree’s name is added, identifies the reason for the commemorative event, i.e. birthday, retirement, wedding, in memory of, etc., and is signed by an official from the the Borough of Morris Plains.
Where are the trees planted?
Trees will be planted throughout the Borough during the appropriate planting season and maintained by the Borough Department of Public Works. The trees will not be individually recognized, but will be part of the Borough’s ecosystem managed to sustain our natural resources. The size and species of the trees planted will be appropriate to the site and will be at the discretion of the Borough. The contributor does not receive any guarantees on the future use of these trees and the trees are the property of the Borough.
Can I request a Plant-A-Tree certificate through the mail?
Yes. We only accept Plant-A-Tree requests by mail (we do not accept credit cards so we are unable to accept online requests). All you need to do is complete the Plant-A-Tree Request Form. Include the information listed on the form and send in with a check made payable to the Borough of Morris Plains. The funds will only be used for the planting of new trees during the calendar year received. Blank forms can also be obtained at the Borough Annex.
