Morris Plains School District

Morris Plains School District is a highly rated, public school district located in Morris Plains, NJ. The District has 578 students in grades PK-8, and sends their 9th-12th grade students to Morristown High School, which is part of the Morris School District, unless they opt for a private or school choice option.   The Morris Plains School District remains committed to meet the academic, social, emotional, and diverse needs of all student learners.

In 2019, the Morris Plains School District was one of 4 districts in the state to be designated a Future Ready Schools-NJ Silver Distinction District, the highest Future Ready Schools-NJ certification currently available.  As the only K-8 district in the state of New Jersey with the Future Ready Schools-NJ Silver Distinction District honor, the Morris Plains School District is a leader in innovative and future ready practices.  The health and safety of our school community remains paramount.  The District works in partnership with the Town and the Morris Plains Police Department to provide a safe learning environment for students and staff.

Mountain Way School

Mountain Way School is an early childhood learning community serving the needs of Morris Plains’ children in preschool through second grade. Our school philosophy embraces each child entering school and recognizes his or her unique needs, abilities, aptitudes, and interests. A creative, caring, competent, and dedicated professional staff encourages every child to learn, grow, and flourish within a challenging yet supportive environment.

The academic program at Mountain Way is comprehensive and enriched with instruction in the core subject areas.  Students receive phonics instruction daily, along with block periods of Mathematics and Language Arts instruction.  Special emphasis is placed on the Language Arts areas of writing, speaking and listening.  Health, Physical Education, Music, Art, STEM, and Creative Literacy are coordinated by certified area specialists who meet regularly with each class.  Student to teacher ratios range below the county average, promoting individualized instruction.  Remedial services and enrichment supports are in place to meet the needs of all student learners.  All students Kindergarten through second are equipped with a technology device.  Mountain Way employs a full-time School Counselor to deliver character education and social and emotional support to our young student learners.

Borough School

The Morris Plains Borough School (Borough) features a comprehensive Common Core based curriculum for students in third through eighth grades.  The continued success of Borough’s students is a direct reflection of the dedicated staff and varied programs and activities offered in academics, athletics, and the arts.   Borough School continues to rank high on standardized assessment performance and students continue to demonstrate academic achievement and growth when compared to their peers across the state.  Academically, Borough implements a balanced literacy program, infuses flexible learning periods throughout the school day, and provides block periods of Language Arts and Mathematics instruction daily.  Borough School has state of the art instructional resources, including 1:1 Chromebooks for all students, virtual reality stations, and hands-on learning tools that promote inquiry-based and 21st century learning. All students rotate through a comprehensive Related Arts program, taking Art, General Music, STEM, and Health. Physical education and Foreign Language are provided in small groups.  Remedial services and enrichment supports are in place to meet the needs of all student learners.

Borough School students have an opportunity to participate in a wide array of extracurricular activities and interscholastic sports.  Lastly, Borough School implements social and emotional learning curriculum, and incorporates character education programs and activities, to create a positive learning environment for students and staff.
