Website Committee

Purpose

The Website Committee was formed in 2020 to coordinate the update and redesign of the Morris Plains Borough website.

Action Plan

Completed in 2020:

  • Research best practices for municipal websites, identify sites and features we like, and complete a wish list for the new website of design elements and content
  • Draft and issue an RFP to identify a vendor to design the new site
  • Review RFP responses and select a vendor/partner for site redesign
  • Develop a communications survey for residents to capture recommendations for new site
  • Explore financial viability of offering online payments on the website; explore vendor options for this component
  • Work with departments to identify Frequently Asked Questions to ensure content addresses them
  • Begin drafting new content

2021 Actions:

  • Continue development and approval of robust content to address best practices and survey feedback
  • Develop a Volunteer Form and process in response to resident feedback
  • Identify vendors to provide online payment options for residents willing to pay the fees for this convenience
  • Roll out a request for photos to enhance the website
  • Communicate functional and design requirements to vendor and review and fine-tune design renditions
  • Send approved content and migrate existing content to the new platform
  • Participate in ongoing review and testing during development
  • Coordinate staff training for site maintenance and updates
